Helping to brighten the lives of sick children across Australia, the Starlight foundation launched the charity challenge, Super Swim, to  fundraise for sick kids bring a splash of happiness to their lives.

Challenge

As Super Swim evolved into the largest charity challenge of Starlight's calendar, it was important that the technology  continued to evolve also.  Starlight approached District to utilise their charity challenge platform, and create a Super Swim app, that could do the following.

  • Fully integrate with their fundraising platform (Raisley)

  • Log activities via the app and also link with wearable devices

  • Engage their users through the campaign to form a digital community

  • Provide content and touchpoint for users to share to their network and increase donations

  • Provide integrations for their title sponsor (Speedo) to launch their activations

Solution

District launched the Super Swim app for Starlight's charity challenge that integrated seamlessly with their web registration and fundraising platform, from Raisely.  This allowed their fundraisers a single point of login for multiple platforms.  The in-app feed provided a seamless platform for fundraisers to keep track of their teams progress, and view how others were progressing in this charity challenge.  The Super Swim app utilised custom photo frames and push notifications to allow users the ability to share key moments with their network, and ultimately drive additional donations for this great cause.

Results

The Super Swim app, helped the Super Swim charity challenge have its biggest year to date, with almost $4million raised for sick kids across Australia.  The Super Swim app received great reviews, achieving an app store rating of 4.7 out of 5, and the data showing that app users raised over 100% more than non-app users.  We can't wait to see this event return in 2025, and look forward to the District platform continuing to drive donations for this iconic chairty challenge.
